FAQs

DeltaPAG Brushless Fans

Why should I buy DeltaPAG brushless fans instead of typical brushed fans?

Power, Reliability & Efficiency. The reason why Delta PAG fans are superior revolves around our Brushless Motor Technology. Brushless motors are "power-dense" small, yet very powerful. This allows for a thinner fan with longer fan blades thus more airflow. Brushless motors have a longer lifespan because there are no brushes to wear down. The operating life of brushless motors is rated at 50,000 hours vs. 3,000 hours for typical brushed motors. Brushless motors increase motor reliability, reduce noise & reduce heat. Brushless motors are far more efficient than brushed motors due to multiple phases (3 phase vs 2 phase) & no brush/commutator losses. As a result, brushless motors consume a fraction of the amps while doing the same/more work. Delta PAG's Brushless fans are flat out better because brushless motors are better.

How does Soft Start technology in DeltaPAG brushless fans work?

Soft Start technology works by allowing fans to slowly increase speed upon activation inorder to eliminate power spikes. Only brushless motors inherently offer Soft Start technology.

Do you sell fans for pull radiator setups and push radiator setups?

Yes. We recommend pull radiator setups because they are more efficient since you can shroud them.

Electronic Control Module (ECM)

Can I purchase a fan assembly without the ECM?

No. The fan assembly kit requires an ECM to operate. Electronics are required in order for brushless motors to work.

What is the life expectancy of the ECM?

The life expectancy is 9000 hours, depending on usage.

Can I purchase an extra ECM?

Yes. We recommend keeping a spare ECM in your glove box.

Are there any electronics in the motor?

No. All electronics are situated in the electronic control module and the temp/speed controller. This allows for much greater reliability and easy maintenance.

Temp/Speed Controller

Can I purchase your fan assembly kit without the temp/speed controller?

Yes, but you will need to purchase our plug-and-play power wiring harness that works with any OEM and aftermarket computer with fan control.

Where can I place the temp/speed controller?

You can place it anywhere, under the hood or under the dash. Keep it away from very very high heat sources such as headers.

What temperature do you recommend I set my temp/speed controller?

We recommend that you set the off temperature at 10 degrees above your thermostat rating, and the on temperature at 15 degrees above the off temperature.

Why would I need to change the speed of the fan?

Not all vehicles require maximum airflow to cool properly. You may wish to reduce the  speed of the fan in order to reduce amp draw and reduce noise.  See how quickly the temperature drops, if it drops 10 degrees F in less than 2 min. you might want to dial it down.

Are 2 temp/speed controllers required to operate the dual fan assembly kit?

No. One temp/speed controller can operate two fans independently.

Do I have to reset the temp/speed controller every time I start my car?

No. Your settings are saved even if you remove your vehicle’s battery.

Temperature Sensors

Do you sell temperature sensors?

Yes. We sell probe sensors and threaded sensors.

What is the difference between a probe sensor and a threaded sensor?

A probe sensor is pushed into the fins of the radiator and a threaded sensor sits on the intake manifold as close to the thermostat as possible.

Shrouds

Do you sell shrouds?

Yes. We fabricate custom aluminum shrouds. Your fan is mounted with stainless steel hardware. High-temp silicone gaskets are used.

What is the process in getting a custom aluminum shroud?

Email us your core dimensions. We will need the measurements of the height and width of your radiator core, the location of where you want to place the mounting flanges, either on the sides or on the top and bottom. We will also need to know the distance between your radiator core and the nearest part of your engine. Once we receive the measurements, we CAD the preliminary design of your assembly and email you a 3D PDF and dimension sheet for your approval and/or modification.

Do you recommend that I shroud my push fan?

No. You should never shroud a push fan because it blocks natural airflow from going through your radiator.

Can I buy a custom shroud without the fan assembly?

Yes. The price of the custom shroud may vary.

Complete Cooling Package

What does your complete cooling package include?

Our complete cooling package includes a radiator for any vehicle, a custom aluminum shroud, and a single or dual fan assembly of any size. We can also assembly overflow tanks, radiator caps, ect.All systems arrive drop in ready, we pre-wire and program the assembly to fit your application. DeltaPAG Measurement tolerance is only 2%. This requires the lowest adjustment possible for max width, height & thickness fitment.

Fan Performance & Dimensions

What fan sizes do you carry?

Our fans are available in 3 sizes. These include 12 inch, 14 inch, 16 and 18 inch fans.

What is the thinnest and thickest part of the fan?

The thickest part of the fan, 2.7 inches, is at the back of the motor. The thinnest part of the fan, 2.1 inches, is at the circumference.

What size fans can I put in a dual assembly?

You can put any size fan combination.

What are the cubic feet per minute (CFM) ratings of the 12", 14", 16" and 18" fan?

The 12” fan pulls 2110 CFM, 14” fan pulls 2630 CFM, 16” fan pulls 3200 CFM and 18" fan pulls 4100 CFM. Please see the fan performance curves in our Delta PAG Catalogue & Fan Specs
